A few weeks ago, I was dropping Ava off at my mother's so that I could run a few errands.
I was wearing a black printed maxi dress.
My mom didn't say a thing to me at the time about said dress but a few weeks later, asked me to come downstairs with her.
She pulled open a drawer and began to pull out piece after piece of beautiful vintage clothing.
Among it, these two incredible Diane Von Furstenberg maxi dresses from the '70's.
I literally jumped for joy. Truth.
Her reply "I couldn't believe you were wearing that ugly maxi dress when I had these".
Thanks mom. She's nothin' if she ain't brutally honest.
I have "shopped" mama's closet before.

DeleteDearest Susan,
ReplyDeleteGood for your Mom; those dresses are lovely! To be brutally honest, like your Mom, I would not combine leopard with that last dress...
Hugs to you and enjoy these treasures!
Mariette
Ahh, pattern mixing. You either love it or hate it. With this subtle print, I kind of think the leopard is fun.

You have NO idea! She was seriously fab.
DeleteSometimes all we really need to do is rummage through our mom's - or grandma's- old stuff to find fashionable pieces. Both those dresses look lovely on you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pepper! Yes, you never know what hidden treasures you might find.
DeleteGORGEOUS!!! Your mother is super stylish ... Izzy and Ava will be shopping your closet no doubt ... You have learned well from your mama... xo C. (HHL)

Those dresses are un-freaking-believable. Lucky lady to have a Mom with excellent taste (who is also the same size). Great outfits!
ReplyDeleteI simply cannot believe your mother was smart enought to store those dresses. I tend to get rid of clothing after the trend goes away. Your mother has taught me a great lesson. I don't believe there are any maxi dresses at any store today that would top those. Although, you make an incredible model for them.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, these are gorgeous! What a great surprise from Mom! You look amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love stealing my mom's old vintage clothing, she had a fabulous sense of style, which I only HOPE to embody one day! The good stuff's already there - no need to go to the mall! And the quality is something that is rare these days! I'm thinking about YOU forever21.....!!!
