Conversations with the Kid

These days, everything Julian says ends in either kid or boss
As in, "ok there kid". And no, he is not talking to Ava.
Or, "I'm so boss". That hat is "so boss". Or simply, "bosssss".
I'm just kind of happy the whole moustache everythin' phase is over.
Funny enough it ended when he started growing his own.

Julian: Mom? I love Florida.
me: You do? That's nice.
Julian: Yup. The people are all so nice. In New York, they're mean.
me: Now, who told you that?
Julian: t.v.
apologies to my NY friends but yeah. #stereotypes

me: Jules, can you help me put away the groceries please?
He enters the kitchen, puts away the spray whip cream, and leaves.
me: hello!
Julian: What? I put away the most important thing.

Last summer in Florida,we were having pool races.
Julian jumped in and swam halfway and then stood up.
When I looked back he said, "Julian stops to sign an autograph".

And then, this. Also in Florida.
Julian: Mom? I know how to tell if they're from here.
Me: Oh really? How?
Julian: They're old. And they're wearing pants.
Wowza.

"Mom, are there any forts in Lauderdale?"
The friend I wrote about here passed away quite suddenly on Tuesday.
She was ill but receiving ongoing treatments.
I still can't wrap my head around it. Don't want to believe it more than anything.
We cried a lot yesterday.
And when I picked Julian up from school, this is the conversation we had.
Julian: How are you doing?
me: I'm ok. I'm sad.
Julian: Well, at least she is not sick anymore. She can live a new life.

Kids.
They never cease to amaze me.
