I admit I am one of those.
The kind that doesn't always appreciate what I have.
How blessed we are.
The kind who gets caught up in the day to day hustle and bustle and sometimes forgets what's truly important.
I have recognized this. I have seen it in others.
And I am trying to change it.
Starting with appreciating the little things.

Family movie night. Even when it's BabyMama you are watching for the tenth time. Eleventh maybe.
Organic chicken instead of turkey for Thanksgiving.

A pumpkin latte and a neighborhood walk with a close friend after dinner.
An afternoon nap.

Family that is healthy. And happy.
Blog friends who have become like I.R.L. friends to me.

What are you thankful for?
Even if it's just for today.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Susan. I am most thankful for friends and family to share all the little moments with, and the good health of those most important to us.

I am thankful for friends like you :) Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours.
ReplyDeleteDearest Susan,
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Thanksgiving to you!
Being appreciative of all the little things in our lives is THE secret to happiness. For understanding that best, we figured it out while living and working for about three years in Indonesia. That was like going back in time, making do with a lot less. Mind you, not city life I'm talking about but high in the mountains in the rural area. We were still happy and our trips home after a two month period were a BLESSING. We even did appreciate things more by seeing and feeling the contrast. Material things don't add to happiness. It is HEALTH, FAMILY and FRIENDS.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
its all about those small moments. love this post.
ReplyDeletegreat list!
ReplyDeleteI was on a rant yesterday about how is it that I spend all day cleaning and the house is trashed in 5 mins/// I took a moment to be thankful for that mess b/c it means my house is filled with little children :) !
p.s. love the Canada hat!
I'm so thankful for the family I created. My beautiful son, daughter and husband and for the kids that came along with this relationship - my 2 stepkids. I'm that although we live on two different coasts, my brother and I still remain just as close as if he were nearby.
ReplyDeleteSo thankful for my health and my family. My husband who is amazing and the life we have.
ReplyDeleteIt truly is the small things and moments in life - that make life the amazing brilliance that it is. I have so much to be thankful for (and like most humans ... sometimes the the to day stuff makes it difficult to see the brilliance). Today I am Thankful for the extended family God has brought into my life; I don't think I could have chosen any better than HE did. Each day I'm thankful for the people HE brings into my life these new friends (and you are one)teach me and remind that a door in life does not close without a window being left open .. it's up to us to make that window a new door!! Wonderful post ...and you know I'm smiling at that gorgeous angel in the red coat and hat ...she is tres adorable!!xo C. (HHL)..
ReplyDeleteP.S. the chickens in our area have been given full description of you... lol...xo

ReplyDeleteIt's funny isn't it? I do feel just like I already know you so well, and yet we've never seen each other in person. It's one of my favorite things about blogging - getting to know friends like you.:)

ReplyDeleteThose are all beautiful blessings.

ReplyDeleteAmen, sister! I'm like you - not always thankful for all the incredible things I have to be grateful for. Blogging is one way to remind ourselves - putting that positivity and gratitude out into the universe - and being inspired by others' gratitude.
