Fifteen

'Cause when you're fifteen and somebody tells you they love you
You're gonna believe them
And when you're fifteen
Feeling like there's nothing to figure out
Well count to ten, take it in
This is life before you know who you're gonna be
Fifteeen

'Cause when you're fifteen and somebody tells you they love you
You're gonna believe them
And when you're fifteen  and your first kiss makes your head spin around
But in your life you'll do things greater than dating the boy on the football team
But I didn't know it at fifteen

When all you wanted was to be wanted
Wish you could go back and tell yourself what you know now

                             Taylor Swift

Words cannot describe how much I love this fifteen year old girl of mine.
She is a blessing every single day.
And I am so proud to be her mama.
Love you my sweet girl.

Happy Halloween.
I have an orange jumpsuited jailbird, a Scream masked boy + a little bunny out there today.

Be very afraid.

What I Wore : The Shopping Channel Finds

Remember when I told you about The Shopping Channel Shopping Challenge in this post?
Well, here is what I chose.
Delivery was crazy-quick {think 4 days after my original order was placed} and, all of these items {including 2 amazing lipsticks that are not pictured!} were under $250.
dress - Isaac Mizrahi Live c/o The Shopping Channel
trench - Anne Klein c/o The Shopping Channel
sunglasses - Chanel
necklace - J. Crew
shoes - Nine West {old / option}

The dress is sure to be on constant rotation this fall/winter. It is ribbed, lined + has pockets. What more could a girl ask for?
The trench has already gotten it's fair share of wear as it's been pretty rainy here in Toronto. It's equally perfect over leggings and rain boots.

In Your Closet : Halloween Costume Ideas

Just 2 more sleeps till the big night!
Still don't have a costume?
Before you head to the party store and spend far too much on one that may not make it through the evening {seriously, could they be made ANY cheaper?}, I encourage you to visit your own closet for a little Halloween inspiration.

Army Brat
hat II jacket II jeans II boots II knapsack {sold out / option incl} II aviators II bracelets

Does my love for Adam run that deep?
Yes. Yes, it does.
As does my love for ensuring my kids always have a fun costume that they absolutely love.
That might have something to do with the fact that I was a clown...oh, 5 or 6 years running.
Did you have a favourite costume?

Mommy + Me : Fall + Winter Ready

I have been so amazed lately with the on-trend fashions available for children; don't even get me started on all the craziness out there for little girls specifically.
Embellished sweatshirts, faux-leather everything and a healthy dose of slogan printed offerings make transitioning into the colder months fashionably, equally simple for both the big + little women in your life.

Mommy + Me

 the windowpane print {mommy :: little} | the embellished sweatshirt {mommy :: little}
the pastel coat {mommy :: little} | the wood-heeled bootie {mommy :: little}
the printed toque {mommy :: little} | the drawstring cuffed pant {mommy :: little}

Where are your favourite places to shop for your little one?

Ava's favourite's include H + M Kids, Zara Kids and The Gap.
Here's hoping Crew Cuts makes it's way north soon!
Happy Thursday.

Reader Question

Received this question from a reader + thought I would share in case anyone else if feeling like they need to update a classic.
"I bought a classic camel coat some years ago and don't really feel it's "me" anymore. I feel bad not to wear it anymore because it's great quality and it wasn't cheap!"

I personally have what may be the most simple camel coat ever.
And I've had it for going on 10 years I'm sure.
A true classic.
So many options...here are 3.

The coat used throughout is as simple a camel coat as I could find and quite similar to the one I personally own. Mine is full length vs 3/4 but either way, a piece that can easily transition from dress to casual + back again.
Never part with it.
Ever.

PS - if you have a question you might like answered, feel free to email me! Happy to help if I can.

Thankful

source
Happy Thanksgiving to all of my fellow Canadian readers and friends!
We celebrated yesterday and I am still recovering from all of the overeating.
My mother.in.law made an incredible dinner {as always} and it was really nice to have the entire family together.
The kids outnumber the adults these days so it's definitely not a quiet celebration.
But one that I know they'll cherish in the years to come.

Today, I am thankful for all of the little and BIG things...

hot coffee
a sunny, clear fall day
sleeping in
good friends
good health
a rearranged bedroom that has given us so much more room
family that lives nearby
and these 3...no matter how crazy they drive me sometimes. amen.

What are you thankful for today?

See last year's Thanksgiving post here.

What Ava Wore : Playing Dress Up

This girl of mine.
Busily planning her outfit for the day when she spied this little faux fur jacket hanging in her closet.
It was given to us by a dear friend recently having belonged to her daughter who had outgrown it.
A size 6 and still far too big for my Ava.
But she wasn't having any of that.
On it went.
And on it stayed.
All day.
blouse - H + M Kids
jacket - Zara Kids {no longer available // similar}
necklace - c/o Juvy Jewels
jeggings - Joe Fresh
shoes - Livie and Luca
Kinda like the Juvy Jewels necklace pictured.
I cannot tell you the struggle we had to get her to take it off before bed.
I may or may not have waited until she fell asleep.

Enter our Juvy Jewels giveaway for a chance at a $40 credit here.
Full of pretties perfect for playing real or pretend dress up in.
